Breast Cancer Awareness Training: Westminster Train the Trainer pilot

*This information is shared on behalf of Breast Cancer Now*

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UK, with around 1 in 7 women affected in their lifetime. YouGov data from 2025 indicates that only 46% of women check their breasts regularly, and breast screening coverage in Westminster stands at 51.7%, compared to a national average of 70% across England.

To address this, Breast Cancer Now is piloting a Train the Trainer programme in Westminster, open to clinical and non-clinical staff.

What’s involved

The programme builds knowledge and confidence to communicate key messages on breast awareness, screening, and risk reduction to patients, colleagues, and the wider community.

Training is delivered via a self-directed eLearning course, which takes approximately two hours and can be completed at your own pace. There is no ongoing time commitment following completion instead, participants are asked to commit to sharing breast health messages within their existing role or setting.

Participants also receive:

  • Access to an online learning hub and educational webinars
  • Digital and printed resources for use in clinical or community settings
  • Ongoing support from the Breast Cancer Now team
  • Eligibility to apply for a grant of up to £1,500 to support local outreach
  • Opportunities to attend further events to develop knowledge, skills and engage with other trainees

Who should apply and how to register

The programme is open to anyone in a clinical or non-clinical role with an interest in sharing breast cancer awareness and screening messages in Westminster.

Training is available until 31 July 2026. To find out more or to register, please email the team at trainthetrainer@breastcancernow.org
