The Central London Training Hub is pleased to announce that Dr Joanna Lovett has provided additional transgender healthcare training dates for both clinical and non-clinical staff working within primary care.
GP surgeries are often the first point of contact for transgender and non-binary patients. Primary care teams therefore play an important role in day-to-day care including referrals, screening, monitoring, treatment support, and wider healthcare needs.
With increasing demand, long waiting times for gender identity services, and limited access to specialist advice, this training aims to improve confidence, knowledge, and understanding across primary care teams.
Why this training matters
Due to the complexities surrounding transgender healthcare and the limited access to specialist support services, many GP teams can find it challenging to confidently support transgender and non-binary patients.
This training provides practical guidance, current context around gender identity services, and a clearer understanding of the lived experiences and healthcare needs of patients accessing care.
What the training includes
Overview of current gender identity services
Understanding gender dysphoria and transgender healthcare
