General Practice Nursing (GPN)

At the Central London Healthcare Training Hub, we are committed to supporting general practice nurses (GPNs) at every stage of their careers. Whether you are a student exploring primary care, a newly qualified nurse starting in general practice, or an experienced professional looking to progress, we offer guidance, funded training opportunities, and career development support. Our goal is to attract, develop, and retain skilled nurses in primary care to enhance patient care across Central London.

Opportunities for Student Nurses We are focused on expanding general practice placement opportunities for student nurses, ensuring more exposure to primary care settings during training.

To support student nurse placements, we collaborate with universities and provide:

  • Training for registered nurses to supervise students under the latest SSSA standards
  • Structured induction materials, schedules, and learning resources
  • Weekly educational sessions
  • Support networks for nurses hosting students

If your practice is interested in providing a pre-registration student nurse placement, please reach out to us on the enquiry box below

Support for Newly Qualified General Practice Nurses For those new to general practice, the NHS has created a structured General Practice Nurse (GPN) Induction Framework. This resource ensures a comprehensive and supportive introduction to primary care, helping new GPNs develop confidence and essential competencies.
