Background and Context
Training represents a significant investment for the NHS, and despite efforts to run courses cost-effectively, high rates of non-attendance (DNA) continue to impact both funding and course availability. To ensure the best use of public resources, it is essential to reduce DNAs and encourage timely cancellations.
DNA Policy
To address this issue, Central London Healthcare Training Hub has introduced a DNA Policy to discourage non-attendance and promote responsible booking practices. This ensures that training opportunities are maximised for all healthcare professionals.
Key principles of the policy include:
- Chargeable Non-Attendance: If you do not attend a booked training session without providing at least two working days’ notice, you will be charged for the course.
- For example, if the course is scheduled for Monday, you must notify the course organiser by the preceding Wednesday (not Friday) to avoid a charge.
- Practice Manager Approval: Before booking a course, ensure you have approval from your Practice Managerand that the training is noted in your practice calendar. This minimises scheduling conflicts and last-minute cancellations.
- Liability for Course Fees: If you do not provide your Practice Manager’s details, you will be personally liablefor the course fee in case of non-attendance.
- Invoicing and Payment: If you DNA, you will be invoiced by CLH training hub
- and required to repay the course cost within 30 days of receiving the invoice.
By adhering to this policy, we can ensure efficient use of NHS funding and provide more training opportunities for all.
